A consistent daily oral hygiene routine that focuses on brushing your teeth twice and flossing at least once each day is a very important element of maintaining good oral health. It’s also worth noting that the quality of the oral care products you use will have an impact on your oral hygiene routine’s effectiveness.

Some oral care product manufacturers fall back on exorbitant marketing messages to encourage consumers to purchase products that have little more than cosmetic value.
To better help consumers identify only the highest quality oral care products, the American Dental Association instituted their Seal of Acceptance program. It was created in 1931 and has gone on to become the benchmark for identifying high quality oral hygiene products.

Manufacturers that wish to early the Seal of Acceptance can voluntarily submit a product in advance of its launch. They will then then test and research the active ingredients for safety and its effectiveness as part of an oral hygiene routine. If the product meets the rigorous guidelines, it will earn the right to print the ADA’s logo on the packaging.

It’s also important to note that the American Dental Association also provides an index of all oral hygiene products that have earned the seal on their website.
